5 Crazy Pest Control Products

Pest Control Concept

There never seems to be a shortage on new and interesting ways to kill bugs, although some of the products on the market really take the cake. From fly strips that attach to your head, to robot pest killing machines, to carnivorous furniture – some of these inventions are downright insane. Below is a list of the top 5 craziest pest control products.

1. Head Mounted Fly Strips

Ever get tired of pesky flies swarming around your head? Well, now you can defeat them – with the use of some Head Mounted Fly Strips. That’s right, these strips of fly paper literally stick to your baseball cap, turning your headgear into a sticky, disgusting wasteland for anything with wings that has the misfortune to flutter by.

2. The Termibot

The Termibot is a robot designed to target and kill termites. With the use of onboard thermal imaging cameras, this remote-controlled killing machine can detect the heat signatures that indicate the presence of termites. Once the enemy has been detected, it rains chemical death onto their colony. It also has the ability to traverse cramped and narrow spaces that humans cannot reach, upright itself if it happens to flip over, and a probe to sucker-punch any obstacles out of its path. Wood-eating pests don’t stand a chance.

3. The Better Mousetrap

The “Better Mousetrap” is a complex device that delivers its death blow via 40-60 PSI of compressed air. Built with a combination of “electronic controlled circuitry, a pneumatic actuator, and complex solenoids,” inside a cold, steel chassis, the Better Mousetrap employs the use of ultrasonic motion sensors and lasers to detect the approach of any whiskered rodent trespassers. Poor Mickey and Minnie suffer a 102-pound deathblow from this executioner that seems to come straight from a science-fiction movie.

4. The Bug A-Salt

The Bug-A-Salt is a device that uses table salt to blow houseflies away. Inventor Lorenzo Maggiore created this gun specifically to kill flies – and it’s only fatal to flies. A mere pinch of regular table salt delivers deadly blows to the common housefly, while it feels like no more than a pinch to any humans who may find themselves caught in the crossfires. The loader holds enough salt for about 50 shots, meaning that you can annihilate your housefly population with just one round.

5. Carnivorous Furniture

Household furniture that devours living flesh may seem like the things nightmares are made of, but they really do exist. One such table features a hallow leg that mice will be enticed to climb up when going after leftover scraps of food on the top of the table. The mouse will then (theoretically) climb up to a hole in the center of the table, and promptly be rewarded with decapitation by a rotating blade – which is fully visible by anyone seated at the table. The mouse remains are then dumped into a chemical bath, where it’s dissolved and turned into a microbial fuel that provides electrical energy for the table, keeping it completely self-sufficient. While it may be an effective – and horrifyingly entertaining – way to dispose of household rodents, you’ll probably want to avoid having this if you have small pets – such as kittens or small dogs.

Whether you’re looking to wear slaughtered flies on your head like a demented trophy, kill termites using an executioner robot, murder mice using lasers devices, pick off houseflies one at a time with an assault rifle, or feed your household rodents to the furniture, there is certainly no shortage of creative – and completely insane – ways to rid your home of pests. Or, you can always do the sane thing and call a pest control professional.

Tips For Tackling The Pest Control War

Most of us have had an experience with a nuisance we need to get rid of fast. Perhaps you need help getting rid of ants, cockroaches, or the little brother knocking down your door. Although I cannot help you with the latter, there are many approaches to getting rid of pests that like to make their habitation in our own living spaces. Unfortunately, pests can often mistake homes, offices, and sheds as their own homes. When ignored or unnoticed, the problem can worsen and become increasingly difficult to get rid of.

At first, cockroaches may only be a few in number, but with their rapid multiplication rates, they can increase to thousands in just months. Small rodents can leave minimal proof and go unnoticed, but they can spread disease and infection throughout an entire household. For all those living in a home, eating in public restaurants, or working in an office, proper skills are needed to combat these unpleasant foes. Ready to engage in the epic battle of human vs. pest? Take up your chemicals, poison, traps and get ready to fight!

Possible Pest Situations

Pest can come in a variety of shapes and sizes, such as termites, wasps, bats, flies, cockroaches, or even raccoons. The first step to practical pest control is to be aware of your location’s history of pests. It’s as simple as this: If your neighbor has had a lot of problems with ants, don’t leave unsealed food out. Simply being aware of the presence of pests will help to avoid the infestation in the first place. On the other hand, pest infestations often come unexpectedly and unannounced, so it is important to have the right tools to deal with the task at hand. Depending on whether your pest is a snake, skunk, or an army of ants, the various prevention methods could look very different from each other. The process for exterminating ants involves sealing all open containers, setting poisonous traps, and cleaning with lemon citracide. However, when trying to rid the area of snakes or skunks, a much more extensive process must be used. For both animals, you should rid the area of its food sources and naturally occurring safe havens. If the animal or pests will not leave or the situation becomes dangerous, it is best to consult a professional pest control company in your area.

Knowledge is Power

Pest control can be a pain, but in the end, you have to do what you have to do. Taking all possible preventative measures is the best form of pest control; if you can keep them from getting inside in the first place, everything is going to be a lot easier. Certain areas have higher tendencies toward particular pest problems, so knowledge of the location’s history is highly beneficial. However, when you find yourself trapped in a grueling war of human vs. pest, you have to take up your ammo and get the job done. This might look like setting up traps, clearing your lawn, or calling the Swat Team to take out the flies. Tools for battle are easily accessible online or through word of mouth. Regardless of the ammo you choose, just remember one thing; you’re going to want to win this war.
